I am SO excited to share my transformation of this dark dated Vintage hand made dresser. Do you Remember this old thing? I knew I wanted to update it’s tired warn look and it back to it’s Mid Century Modern glory. After seeing these stunning mirror back knobs and gold handles, I knew he could be […]
This was really easy if you have a talent for sketching or recreating your favorite picture silhouette syle. I found a wildflower photo on the Internet, drew it with a pencil then went over my sketch with a black paint pen on a 24″x24″ piece of wood I purchased at Home Depot.
My favorite grey wood stain was added and a wood border painted black and tacked on with nails and wood glue. The grain of the wood is highlighted beautifully when a light stain is applied to natural wood.
I also found an adorable Paris painting on the Pottery Barn website and created my own version. The two red umbrellas were added with paint and I painted the edges black to give it a finished look.
Wall art for pennies!
I’m not the only one who sees new uses for ordinary objects and loves the thrill of the hunt. Here’s a project from a fellow blogger: I have always been able to see something cast off made into something beautiful. This pile of collected objects all came from a thrift store over a period of […]
There are many reasons to buy vintage furniture. This article outlines six top reasons why I love buying vintage furniture and why you should consider buying vintage too. Although, these reasons were touched upon in a previous posting, I thought it would be fun to go over them again to offer you some additional perspective […]
I found this poor shutter in a pile of garbage and saved it from a landfill. It was missing some slats so I removed the entire middle portion and cleaned it up. After adding a light layer of colorful chalk paint, I tried adding some chicken wire. Unfortunately I could’t find an easy way to keep the end from being exposed which can be painful if your fingers catch it just right. So instead I took some twine and stapled it across the inside edges and added some cute little clothes pins I purchased at my local craft store. Another creative way to display your favorite memories.
I have been guilty in the past of stacking dishes one on top of the other out of necessity or to save space for other things. I am a single parent and extremely busy so I seek out ideas and gadgets to save myself time and aggravation.
Nothing is worse than removing the top layer of dishes to get to a dish on the bottom of the stack. I don’t know about you but I use my dishes on a daily basis. I get a strange satisfaction from emptying my dishwasher and putting away my clean dishes in nice neat stacks. Then comes the aggravation of needing that one dish on the bottom of that beautiful, neat stack I so carefuly assembled.
This pet-peave of mine has forced me to seek out new gizmos and gadgets to alleviate my dish-stack cabinet of pain.
This two tier shelf is the answer to my problem. Each dish size has it’s own shelf for easy access. Available at Amazom.
I am not opposed to sticking anything into a cabinet that will help organize it. This bamboo plate rack will line all dishes upright.
Zojila Cabana Cabinet Plate and Utensil Rack is great for those who are handy enough to install it. It includes a wine glass holder which adds to its functionality. It is considered a drying rack but it doubles as organized storage. However it’s not pretty so I would not put it in a cabinet with glass cut out.
If this fits in your cabinet or if you have room on your countertop this is a great way to show off your dishes. Get that old-fashioned country cabinet built-in look. It’s 0a hardwood plate rack and it also comes in white.
This is the quilt I made for the baby shower I went to last Saturday. Due to modern medicine we know it’s a boy and his booked date for arrival is the 8th of April. That’s if he doesn’t decide to change the date! It was quite a thing because the mommy works for my […]
A Pinterest win! I like experimenting with my boy on different ways to dye eggs each year. He usually does the vinegar fizz method at church, so it’s fun to mix it up at home. This year, we tried: How To Dye Easter Eggs – Handy And Organic Idea For Norou http://www.iamaddictedtoyou.com/2016/03/21/how-to-dye-easter-eggs-organic/79623/ideas/ They were […]
